SLOW
I headed out to Corfe Castle this morning with 3 shots on my list:1) A foggy castle floating above the clouds; 2) The rising crescent supermoon;3) The sun rising through the window of the castle.It quickly became apparent that my calculations for the moon were way off as moonrise and sunrise were so close together the sun made it impossible to see the moon, and having driven through light fog en route to West Hill I thought the "holy grail" shot might be possible, but alas not this time!Instead I sat and watched the sun slowly creep upwards into the position I wanted - it was awesome to see the village of Corfe Castle shrouded in lovely golden light (picture to follow), but for me capturing the sun through the top window of the castle is something I've wanted to do for a while, so I'm very happy with the result.
Here's another shot from yesterday morning's fruitful trip to Cranborne Chase, this view actually made me stop and say "wow" out loud, the low sun was casting beautiful shadows over the hills it looked unreal - it goes to show just how important good light is in photography!
There's no place that quite compares to Corfe Castle in terms of history in Dorset, trying to imagine the battles that took place inside and around these walls just fills me with wonder, especially when seen from afar like this - just like would be attackers would have seen, a towering structure sitting proud above the mist.
I love this avenue of trees, the combination of fog and trees feels very autumnal to me!
