Seascapes

Living on the isle of Portland for 4 years meant I saw the sea in all it's guises, from smooth rippling tides to huge crashing waves, seeing the power of nature up close and personal was often awe inspiring. This collection highlights some of my favourite images taken around the sea.

New groynes are being built at Southbourne beach in Bournemouth to help combat the power of the rides dragging away the sands - they make a perfect focus point, especially on a foggy day!

The harbour town of Brixham in Devon is sheltered from the ferocious English Channel by a half mile long breakwater. I headed down for sunset was not prepared for what I was confronted by! To the right of this image the breakwater drops down to the ocean about 5-6ft below, but the power of the wind on this day sent waves up the 6ft wall and 10ft into the air! Walking down the path to the end I got more then a little bit wet by waves crashing over the edge, it's truly awe inspriring to witness the raw power of nature like this.
